[1] It seems that everyone we know is sick right now or just getting over something. Tyler had it last week, but is almost well now. Poor Bobby got it last Thursday and fought with it over the weekend. He seemed better for a couple of days but then got it again and it really took him out this time, he’s been home sick since Tuesday night. Tyler doesn’t understand why Bobby won’t play with him. And when Bobby coughs, Tyler does a fake cough trying to be like him. I guess I’ll just keep serving up[2] applesauce and saltine crackers and hopefully he’ll be up soon.

Bobby being sick hasn’t kept him from posting the Psalm for each day at Godsong Music. It is really encouraging to have students and leaders from our high school ministry responding to the Psalm with questions, favorite verses or different points that stood out to them from the chapter. I really liked this part I read yesterday from MacArthur’s Truth For Today. These were some great continuing thoughts for the talk at Women’s Bible study yesterday–

The apostle Paul said, “The law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more, so that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Salvation does not come by confirmation, communion, baptism, church membership, church attendance, trying to keep the Ten Commandments, or living out the Sermon on the Mount. It does not come by giving to charity or even by believing that there is a God. It does not come by simply being moral and respectable. Salvation does not even come by claiming to be a Christian. Salvation comes only when we receive by faith the gift of God’s grace. Hell will be full of people who tried to reach heaven some other way.
