Christa, I am enjoying your posts on this topic. As an older woman, I wish I had learned this in my younger years. I had no understanding of the husband/wife relationship being like Christ and the Church until I read Martha Peace's book, The Excellent Wife. That book was a real eye opener.

So many women are trying to find their identity in their husbands, and their children, and joy and happiness will always be missing for the reason you stated, that our identity is found through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

"the ultimate goal in marriage is not our personal happiness but God’s glory." Wow! That sentence sums it all up. God does not want us to be miserable and hasn't created our role as women to be a miserable place. No, instead, he has given us a specific role that when lived out through His strength and the faith that he gives us will completely glorify him. That's what it is all about. What privilege we have to do what we do and be who we are! What grace he gives us to have right relationships with the men in our lives and how beautiful the marriage symbolism of the Bride and our Groom, Jesus! What honor he bestows on us to represent that relationship with our husbands...all to glorify Him. Amen!
