I heard a speaker say "God isn't a subject, he's a person." sometimes i feel i know about Him, but don't know much of just being His friend. I think i fear being too extreme for christ. thanks for this post.

Good to have you return to the blogosphere! I appreciated your line, "Cultivating love in my heart for the person of Christ had become secondary to cultivating my own spiritual growth and disciplines in godliness". That is so easy to do. I have been spending a lot of time in Philippians, which is all about joy, and really all about knowing Jesus Christ. The two are definitely connected.

Oh, now you've made me want to read that book!

I found that when my children were small and the care of them demanded so much of my daily time, it was easy to fall into an almost "auto pilot" way of doing things. It sounds as if the vacation was just what you needed.

What a great post, Christa! I have been really wanting to read that book since it was mentioned at the WDW conference. I have been in the same rut as you mention before, and I identify with your struggle. I'm glad this vacation has renewed you and you have once again felt the power and joy of Christ's love in the day to day of your walk. Keep enjoying your time away! What a blessing to have this time with Bobby and friends!
